The Tickle Me Elmo Toy first rose to popularity in 1996 during the Christmas season. It was during this time that people lined up in front of stores hours before opening in hopes that they will be able to purchase the Tickle Me Elmo. In 1996 the Tickle Me Elmo toy was very basic. By tickling the toy it caused it to start laughing very hard and would also vibrate and shake. While the design may have been fairly basic, the toy itself was a world wide favorite, and quickly sold out in almost every store in the nation as soon as they became available. The Tickle Me Elmo toy was also featured on a number of different popular television shows including the Today Show with Matt Lauer and Katie Couric.
The Tickle Me Elmo TMX may seem eerily similar to the old Tickle Me Elmo as you remove it from the box. However, the upgraded version that has been dubbed the TMX version is a completely different toy with many more features than were featured on the original Elmo. At just a little more than a foot tall, this Elmo is just slightly larger than the first version. The TMX is not as soft as the first version, and instead is much harder with a plastic shell under its furry outsides.
The Tickle Me Elmo TMX, believe it or not, is the hardest laughing Elmo yet. When you tickle Elmo at any number of his three designated spots, there are a number of actions that Elmo will do in response to your tickling. The spots that Elmo will respond to your tickles are on the underside of his chin, on his stomach, and then on his feet. In addition to laughing and vibrating the TMX Elmo will also wave his hands and rub his stomach. His legs will kick, and his head will sway from side to side as he laughs.
The Tickle Me Elmo TMX is truly the upgraded version of the Tickle me Elmo, and is capable of a number of actions that previous versions of the toy were not capable of. If you are looking for a fun toy that the entire family will enjoy, the Tickle Me Elmo TMX is just the toy for you.
